KNOPPIX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI devices, and other peripherals. It can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system, etc. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk due to on-the-fly decompression.

Aktuelle Debian / sid Momentaufnahme. Linux-Kernel 2.6.17-rc * git *. XFree86 wurde zu Gunsten von Xorg Version 7.0 entfernt. OpenOffice 2.0.2 (deutsch und englisch). Mozilla hat mit Firefox und Thunderbird ersetzt. KDE 3.5.2 mit HAL-Unterstützung für Wechseldatenträger. Limited aber sicher transparent Schreibzugriff für NTFS-Partitionen (libntfs + fuse). Ein neuer Installer mit der Möglichkeit, bestehende Knoppix-Installationen zu aktualisieren. Gnome 2.12.

Seit der Version 3.8, wurden OpenOffice 2.0 BETA (Deutsch und Englisch), KDE 3.4.0 von Alioth, und Linux-Kernel 2.6.11.10 aufgenommen. Kleine WiFi und hwsetup Updates gemacht wurden. unionfs wurde aktualisiert. Ein dist-upgrade von sid durchgeführt wurde.
