QuickRip is a basic DVD ripper for GNU/Linux written in Python and PyQt. It lacks options to fine-tune how you want to rip your DVD, but it makes ripping quick and easy, and so is ideal for those who aren't bothered about framerates, clipping, and other unecessary options. It uses mplayer and transcode to retrieve DVD info and rip the tracks.

The base system should be far more reliable, as well as easier to debug and easier to extend. The CLI has been similarly rewritten. There is now a logging system to help users and developers.

The paths to mplayer, mencoder, and tcprobe, the default output directory, and deinterlacing and aspect ratios for mencoder can now be set in a ~/.quickriprc configuration file. Settings can be changed through both the CLI and GUI. Various bugfixes were made, including a quit option in the CLI. The Rip DVD button in the GUI is now only enabled when sufficient options have been set, and the ripping process has been sped up.
