The wiki has become the clear choice for use among projects for their help documentation. Wiki Web Help takes the wiki concept and tailors it for use specifically with help documentation. It combines the best of both worlds, with operation similar to a chm viewer and the Web technologies that enable community involvement. It features a dual split pane with tabs for searching, index browsing, and display of contents (in a tree). Users can create and modify topics and pages. Pages can be tagged for index creation. Searching with highlighting is included.

BioLadder.Org is a visualization of the Evolutionary Tree of Life, allowing you to explore how life evolved. You can navigate up and down the tree, watching, for example, amphibians change into dinosaurs, then into birds. It currently works on Chrome, Safari, and IE10.

JAMWiki is a Java-based Wiki engine. It features Java servlet 2.4 and Java 5+ compatibility, offers many of the features of MediaWiki, provides quick and easy setup, is integrated with the Spring Framework and Spring Security, and supports running either with or without an external database.

MojoMojo is a Web2.0 wiki with AJAX live preview, hierarchical structure, tags, diffs, pluggable syntax, permissions/ACL, attachments, RSS feeds, a photo gallery, edit conflict resolution via 3-way merge, themes/skinning, localization, built-in full-text search, and a reverse index. Since it's built on top of the Perl Catalyst Web framework, MojoMojo supports any Web server, and includes its own standalone one. It also support any database backend supported by the DBIx::Class ORM, and has been successfully tested with PostgreSQL, SQLite, and MySQL.

Very Quick Wiki is a JSP/Servlet WikiWiki Web clone. It is installed by dropping a single WAR into Tomcat, Resin, etc. It features built-in filesystem or MySQL backend, email notification, diff, usernames, file upload /attachment, admin/topic-locking, recent changes, search engine, standard Wiki markup, and optional HTML support.

confluence-el is an Emacs extension that allows you to interact with Atlassian's Confluence wiki. It supports various methods for both navigating/viewing the wiki content and editing wiki pages and associated content.

Rhizome is a Wiki-like content management and delivery
system that exposes the entire site including content,
structure, and metadata as editable RDF. This means that
instead of creating a site with URLs that correspond to a
page of HTML, you can create URLs that represent just
about anything. It was designed to enable non-technical
users to create these representations in an easy, ad-hoc
manner. For developers, this allows both content and
structure to be easily repurposed and complex Web
applications to be rapidly developed.

LionWiki is a minimalist file-based (doesn't need
a database), templatable, extensible wiki engine
that works from just one file (30KB). It supports
page history, recent changes, interface
localization, password protection (both writing
pages and seeing), and much more through plugins
(CAPTCHA, RSS, syntax for Tables). It's intended
for small personal Web sites, notebooks, and other
simple applications. Installation is very easy:
just copy the file and create a directory.
