AIMSpy is an application that parses and displays
content from instant messaging systems using the
local network. It is multi-threaded, uses BPF
devices for network access, and includes fairly
thorough support for the AIM chat protocol and
rudimentary support for the Rendezvous (iChat)
protocol.

Net::Oscar is a pure Perl implementation of the
OSCAR protocol used by ICQ and AIM instant message
clients.

GEP is an encryption plugin for the Gaim Instant Messaging client. It uses OpenSSL to provide transparent, application-layer data encryption. Users can choose between the 3DES and Blowfish ciphers, and the plugin uses the Diffie-Hellman protocol for secret key exchange.

TiK is a pure TCL/Tk implementation of AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). It has most of the features the native Win32 and Mac clients have, plus some extras. It includes a graphical buddy list display, full font support, graphical emoticons, away messages, buddy pounce, buddy ticker, IM/Chat capturing, message broadcasting, a GUI preferences system, and much more. TiK's expandable nature allows the addition of new features through packages.

licqweb is a Web frontend for licq. It interfaces
with the Remote Management Service plugin and uses
AJAX to provide real-time communication. It is
useful for people who use IMs from multiple
locations and want a 'centralised' application
that means no more logging off and on,
consolidates chat history to the one location, and
prevents problems where messages are missed
because another IM client received them.

Jaimbizzle is a simple, extensible AOL Instant Messenger TOC bot which uses Jaimlib. Services for incoming IMs are created simply by implementing a handle() method. Sample handler code is included.

BIM is a Java-based AOL Instant Messenger (AIM)
client that feature a full-featured Swing GUI. BIM
also comes with encryption support. It has a small
code base and can be easily run on a wide array of
operating systems.

The Off-the-Record (OTR) Messaging proxy is a multi-
platform proxy that allows you to have private conversations
using the AIM client of your choice. It provides encryption,
which prevents someone who intercepts your instant
messages from reading them, authentication, which ensures
that the correspondent is who you think it is, and perfect
forward secrecy, which ensures that no previous
conversation is compromised if you lose control of your
private keys.

pidgin-osd is an application that uses the xosd
library to print various events on the X root
window on receiving incoming messages from pidgin.
It is based on gaimnosd 0.7 (the last publically
available version). It is mostly like the gaimnosd
plugin; the only difference is that an
implementation for UTF-8 conversion to the current
used locale was added.

JabberTools is a set of console and Web-based Perl tools depending on Net::Jabber that makes it easier to use Jabber and convert to using Jabber from other instant messaging systems (e.g., AOL and ICQ). The tools include a Jabber account manager and an importer that converts your previous contact lists/rosters/buddy lists into your Jabber roster.

nTAIM is a feature-rich, curses-based TOC AOL IM client for Unix systems. It includes a basic HTML parser, buddy pounce, buddy aliases, command aliases, tard tips, logging, tab completion, custom color configuration, and random Buddy blurbs.

blaim is a 2kb D-H key exchange and 448-bit
blowfish encryption plugin for gaim.

Py-TOC is a Python module for programming
automated entities that participate on the AOL
Instant Messenger network.

paimbot is an automated AOL Instant Messenger
bot written in Perl. It contains many features and
capabilities that have been inspired by Eggdrop IRC
bots.
